PLANT POSITIONS

Below lists the general types of positions held at each of our plants.

PLANT MANAGER

Summary
Plans, coordinates and manages the production operations, maintenance activities, quality and safety programs, and other related functions involved in plant operations. Incorporates directives provided by corporate management into plant policies and procedures so as to maintain appropriate standards and schedules. Directs the operations of assigned terminals.

Education

B.S. degree in engineering or chemistry preferred.

Experience
Minimum of ten years experience in a cement or lime manufacturing facility with specific exposure to production processes, maintenance, quality control and plant management responsibilities preferred. Type of experience needed depends on the specific type of plant with the position under consideration.


PRODUCTION MANAGER

Summary
Coordinates efforts with the Plant Manager in planning, organizing and scheduling activities of the employees working in the production department to produce cost effective amounts of clinker and cement, according to quality control specifications and plant production goals. Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure shipping, maintenance and quarry activities are aware of production schedules. Assists in the management of operations at assigned terminals.

Education
B.S. degree in engineering or chemistry preferred.

Experience
Minimum of six years experience preferred in related maintenance functions with supervisory responsibilities. Preferred experience should be in cement or related industry.


MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Summary
Manages maintenance repair and preventive maintenance activities for the plant including all mobile and stationary equipment and machinery. Manages and coordinates all engineering services pertaining to maintenance improvements and capital projects.

Education
B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical or related area of engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer designation would be highly beneficial.

Experience
Minimum of six years experience preferred in related maintenance functions with supervisory responsibilities. Preferred experience should be in cement or related industry.


PROCESS ENGINEER

Summary
Performs responsibilities pertaining to the entire cement manufacturing process. Analyzes the process and suggests ways to improve efficiency and quality of the production process. Provides technical assistance to computer support systems involved in plant operations.

Education
B.S. degree in mechanical or chemical engineering preferred.

Experience
Minimum of five years engineering related experience preferred.


PLANT ENGINEER

Summary
Coordinates engineering activities related to the implementation of new processes and the revision of existing processes, including the assignment and supervision of contractors. Provides engineering assistance as needed throughout the plant.

Education
B.S. degree in mechanical or civil engineering preferred. Professional Engineer designation would be highly beneficial.

Experience
Minimum of five years plant engineering experience preferred in a heavy industry with specific office and field experience in engineering design (to include programmable logic control systems where applicable) and construction. Some project management experience and familiarity with contract documents, contractors and vendors for equipment preferred.


CHIEF CHEMIST

Summary
Supervises and administers all plant laboratory activities including quality control and the proportioning of materials used in the cement manufacturing process. Responsible for the efficient operation of plant laboratory facility.

Education
B.S. degree in chemistry or chemical engineering preferred.

Experience
Minimum of three years experience as an Assistant Chief Chemist or similar position in a cement manufacturing or related industry preferred.


ENVIRONMENTAL & SAFETY MANAGER

Summary
Administers the safety program intended to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents or losses from industrial accidents, and promotes plant operation in accordance with federal and state safety laws and regulations. Administers the environmental program in accordance with federal and state environmental laws and regulations. Promotes a positive environmental image of the plant in the community.

Education
B.S. degree in industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental resource management or related field preferred. First-aid and CPR certification required.

Experience
Minimum of five years experience in the safety, health and environmental field in a cement, mining or related industry preferred. Experience dealing with regulatory agencies needed.


QUARRY SUPERINTENDENT

Summary
Plans, coordinates and supervises all quarry operations to meet plant production needs. Uses independent judgment to analyze and solve problems and determine proper procedures.

Education
B.S. degree with emphasis in mining, civil engineering or geology. Professional Engineer designation also preferred.

Experience
Minimum of five years experience in quarry or mining operations with substantial supervisory experience.


HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Summary
Directs and performs responsibilities for plant office, human resources functions, accounting, purchasing and other related job functions. Ensures that proper materials are available as needed for plant operations.

Education
B.S. degree in business or related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.

Experience
Minimum of three years administrative and supervisory experience in the areas of accounting, human resources, and/or office management preferred.
