Seattle Plant
Our plant in Seattle, Washington, manufactures cement to support the Pacific Northwest’s urban and industrial growth. While Seattle is a bustling port city, markets in and around Seattle depend on this plant for the steady supply of cement needed for airports, transit infrastructure and the skyscrapers that define the city’s skyline.
The plant began operating in 1920 and has remained at the forefront of cement manufacturing, earning recognition for its commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
With the capacity to produce around 750,000 tons yearly, a talented team of about 90 people – among them mechanical and electrical engineers; laboratory technicians and chemical engineers; plant and mill operators; and occupational health, safety and environmental specialists – run the processes, maintain equipment and control manufacturing, while the logistics, marketing and sales teams work together supporting customers.
Recent honors bestowed on the plant include the 2025 Energy Star Certification awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in recognition of the plant’s energy efficiency and the 2025 Manufacturer of the Year award from the Association of Washington Business.
The Seattle plant is also advancing safety through innovation. As part of a pilot program, the plant deployed an autonomous robotic dog named Spot, which performs routine inspection rounds and collects real-time data while helping teams conduct inspections in complex, hard-to-reach areas such as the kiln.
The plant is also home to a Sapphire Americas facility, supporting alternative fuel solutions that help reduce waste and improve efficiency in cement manufacturing.
